Key 12 Symbol Chat Mode

Key 12 Symbol Chat Mode is a development from Key 8 and is designed for AAC users who have some literacy skills to use for communication although there are a number of symbol based pages that can be developed for the symbol only user. This version of Key 12 in the Key series also has a rest button on every page to support eye gaze and switch use. Key 12 Symbol Chat Mode is a development from Key 8 and is designed for AAC users who have some literacy skills to use for communication. However, there is a good word prediction built in and there are pages for symbol based communication which can be further developed using the auto content function. The idea of Key 12 Symbol Chat is that the person who has a lot to say but limited movement can access a vocabulary with some ease. This version of Key 12 in the Key series also has a rest button on every page to support eye gaze and switch use.

Key 12 Symbol Mode is part of the Key Series which we have designed to support a group of AAC users who find a large number of cells on a page difficult to access. The number in the title denotes the number of cells that the vocabulary has on a page. A unique word prediction system is built in to the Key's 8, 12 and 24 enabling the user to find the word they want very quickly despite the need to navigate through letters that are bunched together. Key 48 is designed for the cognitively able AAC user who has moderate access difficulties so that a larger number of cells on a page present a problem.

Key 12 using a large number of options for word prediction maximising the possibility of the word you want appearing as soon as you have selected the first letter.

The symbol based communication pages in Key 12 Symbol Chat Mode take their inspiration from the well known hierarchy of communicative competencies which support children to develop their skills in making comments as well as to request things that they want.
