alternative language banking -open
Allows recorded speech message banking of alternative language messages. It is intended for user to have a donor record messages in a home/alternative language, where the user is a symbol user and or the alternative language does not have an electronic voice associated with it, for example languages associated with India and neighbouring countries. All the messages suggested are optional, but are suggested for a young teenager in an English speaking school with family who do not speak English at home. An external plugged in microphone will improve the recordings but they can be done wth the built in mic on the aid. Plan carefully the voice you will use and messages to be recorded. Does the voice donor understand what is being done and why and they will be "speaking" when not present. Plus they might be needed over time, to record more. The messages need planning and recording. Maybe over time. Is the voice donated acceptable to all? For example not a close family member in case that is "uncanny". Does the voice match gender and age and size of the user? Is the dialect/accent used the "correct" one? A mixture of voices might be needed if no one person can be relied upon to donate but this will create an "odd" effect.
